Eric André is a man of surprises.
Whether he's pranking unsuspecting fans on The Eric André Show or sharing NSFW images on Instagram, the comedian doesn't stick to the status quo. However, in an exclusive interview with E! News' Francesca Amiker, the 39-year-old said people would be surprised with how "suburban and boring I am."
"I'm in bed by 9 p.m., meditate twice a day, I journal, I go to therapy three times a week," he continued. "I'm pretty lame."
But isn't this the actor who gets to work with Jon Hamm, Natasha Lyonne, Lil Nas X and more guest stars on his long-running Adult Swim show? It is, but Eric said his journey to success was a marathon and certainly not a sprint.
"I'm trying to do a very, very specific thing," he explained. "It took people awhile. I started doing comedy 20 years ago and they finally let me sit courtside at games."
Back in February, Eric was spotted sitting in VIP seats alongside model Emily Ratajkowski. While the pair has since broken up, the comic reminded fans not to believe everything they read about him.
"When you're a public figure and in the spotlight, not every single news article about you is going to be 100 percent right," he said. "You just have to take it like a shot of liquor. I also haven't been paying attention really."
And as he approaches his 40th birthday on April 4, Eric is turning his focus on self-care. He recently teamed up with Schitt's Creek's Annie Murphy to introduce BIC's new EasyRinse Razor, which features patented anti-clogging technology for a smoother shave with less irritation.
"My razor was getting clogged," Eric said before partnering with the brand. "I'm a mess and my beard was all patchy."
Fortunately, with a new razor and some life lessons, Eric is ready to start a new decade on top.
His advice for those hoping to walk the same path? "Try to stick to your guns," Eric said. "Cement to what you believe in, trust your instincts and gut, work hard and never give up! As cliché as all that sounds, it's all true."
